Be on Guard for Pre-Diabetes

Pre-diabetes is a bad condition. Having pre-diabetes puts you at risk for getting diabetes. Here’s what you can do to stay healthy.

Too much sugar

Diabetes and pre-diabetes happen when your body can't break down sugars in food. Too much sugar in your blood stresses your body. This stress includes your heart, eyes, and kidneys.

Many people have this bad problem but don’t know it. You must take action right away if you have pre-diabetes. Your body will suffer now and later in life if you don’t.

Know the risks

Here are some of the risks:

  • having a family member with diabetes

  • being too heavy

  • having high blood pressure.

Talk to your doctor if you have any of these risks, so you can be checked.

Practice good health habits. Maintain a healthy weight. Exercise every day. Eat a healthy diet.
