Get Support for Breastfeeding
If you plan to breastfeed your baby, good for you! Your breast milk is the healthiest food for your baby.
Learning how to breastfeed takes time and effort for both you and your baby. But it’s worth it.
Here are some tips to help you:
-
Talk with your health care team about breastfeeding now. Don’t wait until your baby is born.
-
Ask your doctor for the names of breastfeeding support people. They visit mothers at home to help new moms and babies learn to breastfeed.
-
Talk with a family member or friend who has nursed her baby. Ask if she can visit you at home and help you nurse.
-
Talk with other mothers.
-
Ask your doctor or nurse if he or she knows other mothers you can talk with about breastfeeding.
Talk with a local La Leche League group. They help women with breastfeeding. The number is 800-LA-LECHE (800-525-3243).
