Whip Up a Tortilla Treat

Soft corn tortillas can make a tasty and healthy snack or meal. Children can think up their own recipes. Here are some ideas for foods to wrap up:

  • Avocado

  • Chopped broccoli, peppers, or spinach (choose your favorite vegetables)

  • Tomato salsa

  • Beans

  • Grilled, chopped chicken—don't fry it

  • Rice—make it brown or wild

  • Low-fat or skim mozzarella cheese

Choose healthy foods for fillings. Skip high-fat foods like oil, butter, salad dressing, full-fat cheese, and sour cream. Try a sprinkle of these instead:

  • Lime juice

  • Cilantro

  • Minced garlic
